Pistol and Rifle

The Scientific Foundation for Building Shooting Skills

These are facilities specifically designed for training in single-shot firearms, unlike shotguns (such as skeet and trap). These ranges cover a wide range of distances, from close-quarters pistol shooting (3-25 meters) to precision rifle shooting at medium and long ranges (50-1000 meters).

The Dual Importance of These Ranges

The importance of these ranges lies in their service to two essential and distinct sectors:

Sporting and Olympic Importance:

These ranges are the official venues for a wide range of Olympic and world shooting competitions. Competitions such as the 25-meter rapid fire pistol or the 50-meter 3-position rifle require extreme precision and training environments that adhere to strict international standards (ISSF) regarding distance, lighting, and target systems.

Military and Police Importance (Foundational):

Before a combatant moves into the complexities of urban warfare or zigzag fields, they must master the fundamentals. Traditional pistol and rifle ranges are the classroom where every soldier and police officer learns the basics of marksmanship: how to stand, grip the weapon, aim, control their breathing, and pull the trigger smoothly. Mastering these skills here is what makes the difference in the tactical field later on.

Maknoon’s Role: Precision and Safety Engineering to Global Standards

At Maknoon, we understand that designing a pistol and rifle range is not simply about building walls and placing targets. It is a science that requires precise engineering expertise to ensure two things: absolute safety and maximum training effectiveness.

Safety-by-Design Engineering:

Complete Ballistic Containment: We apply our expertise in ballistic protection systems to ensure that every shot is safely contained. We design and install bullet traps (either angled steel or rubber) scientifically selected based on the calibers used, and we cover walls and ceilings with rubber and armored steel to completely prevent any ricochet.

Safe separation between shooters: We design and install shooting booths that isolate each shooter, protect them from spent cartridges, and ensure their weapon is aimed only at the safety zone.

Advanced ventilation: In enclosed ranges, we apply our precise calculations to ventilation systems to create a laminar airflow that draws lead dust and gunpowder away from the shooter, maintaining a healthy and safe environment.

Integrating technology for effective training:

Electronic Target Systems (EST): For sports and Olympic venues, we install state-of-the-art electronic target systems that provide real-time and accurate scoring, accelerating the learning process. The LOMA (Local Target Assistance) System: In military training ranges and at long ranges, we integrate our LOMA system, which provides the shooter with immediate feedback on their hit location without requiring them to stop firing.

Variable Target Carrying Systems: We install automated target carrying systems that allow the instructor to control the target’s distance and appearance time, adding an element of challenge to training.
